The games included in the collection are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Each game has been remastered and optimized to run on current-gen consoles and PC. In the dangerous and vast world of Sonic Frontiers, anything is possible, and players will have the freedom to explore the visually stunning, open-zone realm.
Don’t know what the people involved would be working on but maybe they could try. If we want to try to get Nintendo involved maybe GameFreak is the one to do it since they did Pulseman. The series is dead though and will never be what it was. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you keep releasing games in a series that range from mediocre to awful.
SONIC BOOM is Officially Sega’s Worst-Selling Sonic Game
In fact, it was actually kind of HARD knocking it down to just TEN Sonic games. I had to say, “̈Nothing except main-series platformers.” That’s right. No racing games, no RPGs, no fighting games, just the main-series platformers. And if you can keep your attention span up long enough to get through this list, you‘ll learn that the classic 2D games AREN’T the only good ones in the series. But, if you´re not a fanboy, then I´m sorry you had to read that. You´re an awesome human being, and you can change the world.
- Scattered through each level are golden rings, which serve as a form of health.
- Sonic Blast introduced the issues 3D Sonic games would be plagued by to this day.
- It didn’t help that Sonic Frontiers’ marketing was not great at the start.
- Sonic the Hedgehog punishes the player by manipulating their sense of momentum, by frustrating them into unexpected starts and stops.
The ball’s physics are finicky, and it’s common to watch it get bounced down into the sides and down into the empty pit at the bottom while you’re struggling to get enough points. It’s also a common sight to watch it refuse to get through the damn door until it finally bounces off a bumper and actually goes upward. On top of this, you only get three tries before having to start all over. On September 6th, Sega revealed out of nowhere that the game’s ending theme would be done by none other than Japanese rock group One Ok Rock, which took pretty much everyone by surprise. This isn’t the first time Sonic Team has done this, as seen in the final level of Burning Rangers. The fact that it’s the only Guardian to appear in more than one island makes it more memorable .
And also for having one of the most active fan-game communities around. Dash controls much like every other forward-running endless runner on mobile devices. Swipe up to jump, down to slide, left and right to dodge obstacles; and sometimes you get to boost and actually go fast. They’re generally responsive, but they don’t make up for how bland the game is overall. Sonic Jump Fever is pretty well removed from typical Sonic gameplay.

When Sonic gets into a small crowded space, the camera has trouble focusing on him. That’s a common issue in platformers, but what’s less forgivable are camera issues while exploring the open world. When running around, the camera will sometimes play sonic games on line lock on to random enemies or minibosses as it expects you to fight them. Jumping and homing attacks feel sluggish and stilted, making seemingly easy jumps more frustrating than they need to be. Sonic doesn’t keep momentum well either, exacerbating all these issues.
I’m a cool uncle, plus obviously I get to spend the day helping him play the game, rather than helping out in the kitchen. In theory, that sounds worth any game’s asking price. However, I’d say it was about one minute into the first cut-scene when I sensed that familiar dread in my stomach. For Timmy’s sake, I faked some joy when the gameplay began as he optimistically glanced over at me. I knew instantly, however, what he was playing was no Marble Zone Act 1 by any stretch of the imagination. Then, whilst mulling over this particular thought, a terrifying glitch occurred, warping Sonic and his pals beyond all recognition as though some interdimensional rift had opened and sucked their faces off.
